Club Reis is an independent travel and lifestyle publication based in the United Kingdom. Our website address is https://clubreis.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.

What we collect and why
When you contact us
Our contact form collects your name, email address and whatever you write in your message. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest, namely responding to people who get in touch.
When you subscribe to our newsletter
We collect your email address when you subscribe. We use it to send you our newsletter and nothing else. Our lawful basis is your consent: you tick a box to confirm you want the newsletter, and we then email you to confirm the address is yours before adding you. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. Your details are held on our behalf by Brevo, our email marketing provider, and are transferred to Brevo when you submit the form. When you comment
If commenting is open on an article and you leave one, we collect what you type into the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which help us detect spam. An anonymised version of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check for a profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy notice is at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
When you simply read the site
Our host records standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting. We also use Google Analytics, through MonsterInsights, to understand which articles people read and how they found us.
Cookies and similar technologies
Some cookies are essential and keep the site working. Others are set by Google Analytics, which tells us how many people read an article and where they came from, and by our advertising and affiliate partners, which lets a booking be credited to us.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add on. A full list of every cookie the site uses, what each one does and how long it lasts, is in our Cookie Policy.
Advertising and affiliate links
Club Reis carries advertising and affiliate links, including from travel booking partners. If you click one and go on to book or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or what we write about a place.
Advertising and affiliate partners may set their own cookies and collect information about your visit in order to attribute a booking. That processing is governed by their own privacy notices, not ours.
Embedded content from other websites
Some articles include embedded content such as videos, maps or our newsletter signup form, which is hosted by Brevo. Interacting with embedded content is the same as visiting that other website directly, and those websites may collect data about you and set their own cookies. Our signup form also uses Google reCAPTCHA to block automated submissions, which is subject to Google’s privacy notice and terms.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the publication. These are our web host, Brevo for email marketing, Google Analytics for audience measurement, and Akismet for comment spam filtering. Each acts on our instructions. Where a provider is based outside the UK, transfers are covered by the appropriate safeguards, such as the UK international data transfer addendum or an adequacy decision.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
How long we keep it
Contact form enquiries are kept for up to two years after our last exchange. Newsletter subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe. Comments and their metadata are kept for as long as the article is published, so that follow up comments from the same person can be approved automatically. Server logs are kept for a short period set by our host.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk, or by calling their helpline.
Children
Club Reis is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when our systems or practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
